Goodbye to Paula

Does God love the city?
September 10, 2021As EPC finds its post-pandemic normal, an important ministry can again start!
About five years ago, our congregation adopted New Hope High School (NHHS). This LISD school serves students who, for a variety of reasons, have not thrived in a regular school environment. New Hope offers a small school environment with extra academic and emotional supports in order to help these students successfully graduate.
The school is very small, consisting of several attached portables. There is no cafeteria. This lack is even more sobering because a good number of the students have unstable housing situations and/or do not have easy access to food outside of school. The school has a kitchen and refrigerator, but food items for the students are needed to fill this need.
EPC has partnered with NHHS and provided for needs in the area of academic tutoring, mentoring, and physical needs of food and clean clothing. Remembering how Jesus fed the 5000 with bread and just a few fish that His disciples collected, we also collect a special food offering, our “Mark 6” offering, on the third Sunday of each month, and use these food items to fill the pantry of NHHS. This is a great opportunity for our children to be involved in selecting and then bringing items to our baskets that they know other kids would want to eat!
Let’s join together and fill up the food pantry at New Hope High School with
