Potters & Clay
March 9, 2026I could hardly believe my eyes: a bright rainbow stretching across a clear blue sky without a hint of rain! I’d prayed for sunny weather at the January popcorn party marking the eighth anniversary of my arrival in Africa. But I hadn’t dreamed that God would also provide – even without the atmospheric moisture which usually produces it – this striking symbol of His promises fulfilled in my years of service to Him here.
But there it was, as this photo shows, filling the window of sky visible above my church friends who had munched on popcorn to their hearts’ content and were lustily singing praises to God with me. I have so much to thank Him for! His presence with me through these eight years, incomprehensible peace filling my heart, the working together of all things for my good, continual sanctification, spiritual fruit in the lives of those I serve . . . As testified of Israel in Joshua 21:45, not one word has failed – in my life either – of any good thing which the Lord has spoken.
While you praise God with me for His goodness, pray that the rainbow’s providential appearance, and my experiences of His faithfulness which it symbolizes, would strengthen my faith to cling even more tightly to Him in the days ahead. The privilege of ministering overseas in His name is glorious but not easy. Though I never know what the next challenge may be, I can be certain that it’s not far off. Thankfully, one thing is even more sure: God’s grace will always be sufficient, because He always keeps His promises!
