Bonifácio has two nephews with similar names that both translate to “Matthew” in English. Both young men teach at the preschool. One lives with us, and the other, who lives nearby, is the preschool’s director. Two weeks ago, Director Matthew was walking home from the preschool when he was struck by a motorcycle whose driver, apparently drunk, didn’t survive the accident. Thankfully, Matthew’s injuries weren’t nearly as severe; his broken foot was treated in the ER and he was sent home. But because living alone isn’t practical for someone in his condition, we brought him to our house. Since then, he has been mostly in bed, cared for by our Matthew and cheered by a steady stream of visitors in typical African fashion. He has visited the hospital several times for follow-up treatment, which we pray will be effective in preventing permanent damage. Please join us in this prayer.
