What a whirlwind this past weekend was! I spent Friday morning downtown at my driving exam, which was conducted in the same truck I’ve been having lessons in. In the first phase, parallel parking, I succeeded on my third and final attempt — whew! The second phase, driving through the city, was much easier for me, and though I have yet to receive my official result, I feel confident that I passed.

Between phases of my driving exam, I received confirmation that I would be moving that very day. When I returned home around noon, I had about an hour to finish packing up my belongings, a task which I’d begun the previous evening and continued early that morning. I sent them to my new residence with a driver while I left for my weekly music teaching across town, then took a taxi to my new home that night.

I unpacked on Friday night and Saturday morning, then spent all day Saturday at a Children’s Day celebration at the preschool, which is in the neighborhood of my new home. During the ceremony, the children demonstrated for their parents what they have learned. Afterwards, we took this group photo, then enjoyed a feast and some rousing games.

As convenient as it is to now be able to walk to the preschool, I can no longer walk to church, so I took public transportation there and back on Sunday. I work in the same place where the church is, so this will be my routine on weekdays as well. As time goes by, we’ll see how well this plan works, and adjust it as necessary. So far, I am delighted with my new home.
