Masks At Emmanuel

Dear Church Family,

I’m sure most of you are aware that Gov. Abbott issued orders rescinding Mandatory Mask Wearing in the state of Texas effective March 10, 2021. And I expect many of you are wondering how this impacts our mask requirement for worship at Emmanuel. In short it does not change anything for us. We will continue our current Policies and Practices for Gathered Worship.

Summit Christian Academy, like most schools in the area, is still requiring masks, or face coverings, for use of their facilities. While they are evaluating this ever changing pandemic, they have not given us a timeline for any changes in their COVID policies. Similarly the Session of Emmanuel is paying close attention to the metrics related to COVID. We are delighted to see the drop in numbers and hopeful because of the increase in the number of vaccinations that have been administered, both in the area and to members of our own congregation. As the situation continues to improve, and in accordance with the best medical guidance we have available, we will make changes to our policies as seems prudent. Though we do not have a timeline in place yet, we do have hope and expectation that this will end.

I expect that some of you are relieved by this information. Others of you are probably quite frustrated. We understand that very well. And we all long to get back to a more normal worship and life, as soon as possible. The Session values and appreciates your input on these matters. Please feel free to contact me, or any of the elders, with thoughts or concerns going forward. We are doing our very best to create a reasonably safe and healthy worship environment for everyone, knowing that there is no way to please everyone. Please be patient with us.
