Who Is A God Like You?
July 10, 2025It’s conference time! In two weeks, church leaders and their wives from around the country will converge on our property here in Africa for four days of preaching and fellowship. With Paul Washer among this year’s speakers, we expect a record crowd of 600 attendees, with our paid and volunteer staff swelling to 80 for the week.
Feeding and housing hundreds of guests is no small feat! For lodging, we’ve imported tents, including those pictured here, and built hundreds of cots. We’ve purchased mattresses, pillows, and blankets locally, and our tailor has made the sheets and pillowcases. For meals, we use bamboo to construct a temporary kitchen and serving area. We buy chicken locally, and we bring fish from the coastal area and beef from a pastor’s rural herd. Fresh produce comes from the local market and staples from a wholesale vendor in town.
As my director ages and my experience grows, I’m assuming ever-greater responsibility for the annual event’s logistics. I spend my days in the office meeting with employees to guide their work, resolving a myriad of problems that land on my desk, and grabbing free moments whenever I can to tackle tasks whose complexity has prevented me from delegating them to others. Though I have at times been overwhelmed with stress during past conference seasons, God is sanctifying me through His Word and prayer to trust His grace to meet the demands placed upon me.
Pray that God’s peace will continue to guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Phil. 4:9). Pray that the Holy Spirit will anoint all of our speakers so that their messages will transform hearts with Biblical truth. Though our conference goers are church leaders, we suspect that many have yet to experience saving faith in Jesus Christ; may the Lord use this conference to draw them to Himself. Pray for safe travel and good health for all involved, efficiency in the remaining preparations, protection from the enemy’s schemes, smooth logistics, and the glory of God through this annual pastors’ conference. Thank you for praying.
