Dear Church Family,

As I mentioned in our budget meeting, The Crossing is a church plant in McAllen, TX that Emmanuel is supporting. They just began to gather during the COVID crisis! Even still God is blessing this fledgling community. Below is summary of an  update from the planting Pastor, Gamma Pozos.

The Crossing is currently focusing on two main areas: networking and building community.

Networking

Networking has various aspects. One is a “coffee, dinner, gospel” approach, in which members of the church reach out to their neighbors, building relationships before bringing up the gospel. Another is reaching out to people in public places like coffee shops, the library, and even polling places. Gama has been listening to different people learning more about life in McAllen, and getting to know its residents. A final aspect of networking is meeting with local pastors. Gama is meeting pastors both from PCA churches and other denominations, learning more about how the Holy Spirit is at work in the region, and considering how the Crossing can be part of that ongoing work.

Building Community

Of course, building up their existing church community is equally important. Grace and Gama have been discipling a newlywed couple in their small group, meeting a few hours before the regular small group. The group contains 14 members, and is studying the gospel of Mark.

Please pray for the Crossing, that they would be able to efficiently network and build community. Pray also for Gama and Grace as they navigate planting a church, online learning with their children, and the challenges of life during the pandemic. They also ask for prayer for specific friends and neighbors of theirs: new friends Max, Vanessa, baby Helena, Eduardo, Patricia, and Fatima; and neighbors Frank and Angelica, who do not want in-person interaction due to COVID-19.
